The academic interview is dedicated to the problems of modern Christian pedagogy, as well as collecting the experience of Russian teachers of the 19th and 20th centuries, who sought to build their pedagogical concepts on Christian foundations. The authors of the interview attach particular importance to the pedagogical heritage of K.D.Ushinsky, S.A.Rachinsky, V.V.Zenkovsky, N.N.Neplyuev, P.D.Yurkevich. The authors mention the experience of holding “Vityaz” summer camps in the Russian emigration, the works of S.S.Kulomzina, as well as the staff of the Religious and Pedagogical Cabinet created at the RSCM, and identify the value and relevance of these practices today. The interview also examines the role of the teacher’s personality and personal faith in the educational process. The question is raised about how the experience of Russian teachers combines an orientation towards European scientific knowledge and commitment to national principles. It reveals what challenges modern Christian pedagogy faces and what answers Christian education can give to the challenges of the time. According to the authors of the interview, the challenges of our time are associated with changes in the anthropological characteristics of man, in particular, the usual ideas about the activity of the human brain. Another challenge is secular culture, which strives to be free of all boundaries. The ability to navigate a huge information flow and easy accessibility of information requires a holistic education system that is adequate to modern times and, at the same time, based on the pedagogical experience of past generations.
